Who is your favorite person in your field?
Jo Boaler and Carol Dweck both education researchers who founded and utilize the ideology of Growth Mindset. The book Mathematical MIndset’s formed my perspective on teaching math.
If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be doing?
I would be working at a nonprofit. I’m very interested in social justice, and my undergraduate degree is in business, so I would love to work in marketing for an organization like Kiva.
What teacher(s) had the greatest impact on you?
My mom. She was both my teacher from a young age when she taught me to read and write, and she also taught at my school in high school. She was my Spanish teacher for all four years.
What are your life goals?
To feel that I have made a difference in the world, and to find ways to ensure that I never stop learning and growing.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
I really like going out into nature. It doesn’t really matter where, but nature helps me center myself.
Do you have any Pet?
Currently two dogs: Harry and Tucker. Growing up I lived on a farm, so I had chickens, cows, horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, ducks, and bunnies.
