Who is your favorite person in your field?
Janelle Monae or Erykah Badu because they defy what is expected and embrace their own originality.
If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be doing?
I would be writing and recording music at this very moment or maybe taking a lunch break because I love to eat lol.
What teacher(s) had the greatest impact on you?
My mother. She was my first teacher and the one who taught me that it was okay to dream big, but never let the world change my mind about what is achievable.
What are your life goals?
To own my own visual and performing arts school.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
I’ll get back to you on this one. Currently, I’m still traveling the world to figure it out.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a dog. Her name is Diamond.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
MUSIC! It’s what I do for fun. To be more specific, it’s the moment I hear the music finally come together.
One of my talents is drawing. It’s something I do to forget about everything else the world wants to force me to do at this moment. It’s how I stop myself from worrying about things I can control. As a musician, music just puts me right back in the moment or heighten the emotion. Drawing does the exact opposite.
What is the one thing you couldn’t teach without?
Attention. I expect it and secretly crave it, but it’s the one thing that makes me believe that you are actually understanding the “many-many” words coming out of my mouth.
